Sonny D. Boring of Maryville departed this life on January 29, 2026, at home. Born May 26, 1944, he was the class of 1962 valedictorian of Oneida High and a 1966 honors graduate of the University of the Cumberlands. He spent his career of 44 years as a Medical Technologist in the Laboratory of Blount Memorial Hospital. Preceded in death by his grandparents George and Lizzie Boring, Horace and Otie Manis, father Mayford, beloved mother Eula, and sister Sandra Thompson. Survived by dear wife and soulmate Linda, son Steven (Ginger), daughters Dana (Rob) and Robin, sister Phyllis (Van), brother and best friend Gary (Carol), grandchildren Derek (Demi), Cody (Tiffany) and C.J., and great grandchildren Emorie, Whitney, and Andreanna. Sonny’s passions were his family, big game hunting, trout fishing, and puttering around in his workshop. His cremated remains will be interred in the family plot at Grandview Cemetery. Immediate family will gather on a date of their choosing for a graveside eulogy. No other services are planned.
