IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Scott Michael
Sponseller
December 20, 1977 – February 21, 2026
Scott Michael Sponseller, 48, passed away on February 20, 2026, in Knoxville, Tennessee. Born on December 20, 1977, in Rockford, Illinois, Scott was the son of the late Les and Judie Sponseller.
Scott’s early years were marked by a journey through several communities with his family. He spent his first ten years growing up in Oregon, Illinois. In 1988, the family moved to Marion, Ohio where they spent the next 3 years. In 1991 Scott was on the move again with his parents, Les and Judie, moving to St. Joseph, Illinois where he would graduate from St. Joseph-Ogden High in 1996. He continued his education at Parkland Community College and later settled in Knoxville, Tennessee, where he began his career in contracting. Scott was a continuous gutter and siding craftsman and spent time traveling Tennessee, Alabama, and Georgia perfecting his trade.
Scott found joy being outdoors, exploring and creating. He cherished outdoor adventures with his daughter Kaylee from hiking and camping to building forts in the woods. Scott enjoyed sketching, carving, and using his hands to create. His artistic talents were often shared with those he loved most- he delighted in crafting gifts for family members.
Scott was an avid sports fan with a lifelong devotion to the Chicago Bears, Chicago Bulls and Michigan Wolverines. He loved watching sports and was always on top of the latest standings and game scores. Scott also enjoyed gaming, the only thing better than watching a game was being in control of that Bears vs Packers game.
Scott was proceeded in death by his parents Les and Judie Sponseller and his longtime partner of 14 years, Erin Beason Massey. He is survived by his beloved daughter, Kaylee, sister Amy (Tony) Bova, brother Brad (Amy) Sponseller, and nieces and nephews: Julia and Christian Bova, and Sophia Sponseller. Services for Scott will be held privately for the family.
