Obituary

LeRoy Elwood Rud was born 5/4/1934 in Montevideo, Minnesota. He grew up on the family farm in rural Montevideo and attended the District 31 Country School located on the farm through 8th grade. He attended Montevideo High School graduating in 1952. He was active in the Jevnaker Lutheran Church and the Mandt Live Wires 4-H Club. LeRoy enlisted in the United States Air Force and served for 2 years. He held the rank of U.S.A.F. Airmen 2nd Class when he was honorably discharged. Upon his return from the U.S.A.F. he went to the Model Beauty School in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He worked at this for a number of years. At one time he owned several shops. He later moved to Springfield, Massachusetts, continuing with remodeling. He ended up moving to Maryville, Tennessee where he had his own business, Viking Renovations, later named Asgard Enterprises, until his retirement. LeRoy married Carole (Benson) on 05/04/1963. They had 2 sons, Christopher Joseph and Eric Matthew. Some time later he married Sharon (Holland) on 10/07/1984. They had 1 daughter, Danielle Nicole. LeRoy was a great guy loved by both family and friends. He never met a stranger. He left life and light wherever he ended up. He made every gathering he attended more fun for everyone. He enjoyed socializing, cooking, woodworking, doing stained glass and fishing. But most of all he simply enjoyed spending time with those he loved.

LeRoy is preceded in death by his parents William and Alfa Rud; brother Carroll Rud; sister Arlene Knutson; and grandchild Kristy Strickland. He is survived by his wife Sharon; sons Christopher (Jennifer) Jensen, and Eric (Jodie) Jodie Jensen and Curt Anderson; daughters Danielle (Billy Hyde) Rud, Jodie Anderson (Charlie) Sparks, and Laurie Anderson Sargeant; 10 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; and 1 great great grandchild.
