Janice O’Neal Cable went to meet her Lord and Savior on August 16, 2026. She passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by family and friends. Janice was born on November 21, 1946. She is preceded in death by her husband John H. Cable, Jr.; her parents Bill and Velma O’Neal; her brothers Billy and Glen (Pat) O’Neal; her niece Deborah Tallat; and her brother-in-law Johnnie Barbara. Janice is survived by her sister Joyce O’Neal Barbara; special nephew Billy (Rhonda) Cable; in-laws Wayne Cable and Gene (JoAnn) Cable; several nieces and nephews; and great-nieces and great-nephews that loved her very much. She retired from the Department of Children’s Services after 45 years. Janice was also a long-time member of Victory Baptist Church. She had some amazing caregivers; niece Samantha Gorman Cable, Liz Clark, Jenna Johnson, niece Rhonda and brother-in-law Wayne Cable. Janice had the kindest heart and was loved by everyone who knew her. She will be deeply missed. Our family takes comfort in knowing that 2 Corinthians 5:8 says, “To be absent from the body and to be present with the Lord.” We can’t imagine how happy she is right now. The family wants to give special thanks to Andrea and Kristen from UT Hospice. A service in honor of Janice’s life will be held on Saturday, August 29, 2026, at noon, at Grandview Cemetery, Maryville, TN. Receiving of family and friends will be at 11 am proceeding the service.
