Geraldine Mary Shanahan, age 96, passed away peacefully at home on November 2, 2026. Her family was at her bedside when she gently fell asleep. Geraldine was born in Chicago, IL, on April 14, 1930, to the late James Leo and Nora Jeane Enright. She attended Longwood Academy and DePaul University. Geraldine spent many years as the St. Jerome Parrish office administrator and she loved volunteering for Suncoast Hospice in Florida. She was a very talented and creative woman but was revered as a concert pianist. She is preceded in death, not only by her parents, but also by her husband James J. Shanahan. Geraldine is survived by her sons James E. Shanahan (Marsha) and Gerald M. Shanahan (Holly); 3 grandsons; many nieces and nephews; bonus son John Hosteny (Annette); and Goddaughter Debbie Novak (Jerry). A service to honor and remember Geraldine will be held in Pinellas County, Florida at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Caris Hospice.
