Wanda Laurel Hamby Wilburn, age 76, of Maryville, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on July 25, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on November 27, 1948, in her family’s home in the Epperson community to the late Dewey and Mamie Hamby. She was preceded in death by siblings: Hazel, Margaret, Rose, Ruby, Edrew, A.J., Marion, L.B., and Newbert.
Wanda is survived by her sweet sister Linda Nicholson whom she adored as well as a loving and devoted husband of 59 years, Johnny Wilburn, and their three beloved children: John Wilburn, Logan Wilburn (Donna), and Mamie Evans. Wanda was a proud and loving Nana and Mamaw to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She deeply loved her grandchildren: Katie (Dustin) Campbell, Emma (Paul) Mente, Alana (Tyler) Stanifer, and Kylie (Shayne) Coffey. Her love and joy grew even greater through her great-grandchildren: JJ and Justin Campbell, Ensley and Everson Stanifer, and Graylen Coffey.
Wanda’s greatest joy was taking care of her family. She walked faithfully with the Lord and alongside her husband in his ministry, always encouraging him and giving unwavering support and love. She brought much joy and happiness to their home. She loved being a mom and wife and later a nana and mamaw. She enjoyed writing poems, singing, and writing her own songs to sing in church. She was generous, nurturing, and lovingly present in every moment. Her sweet smile made everyone feel welcome, and her joyful energy left a lasting impression on all who met her. Wanda gave the warmest hugs — and she often ended conversations with a “Love you, love you, love you!” She had a heart for people and a servant’s spirit. If she saw a need, she met it without hesitation and with great love – never wanting anything in return.
