Mrs. Susan Taylor Hitch

Susan Taylor Hitch, age 67, of Maryville, left her broken body behind on March 30, 2018. Susan was born in Maryville, TN to Tom and Barbara Taylor on June 5, 1950. A graduate of Maryville High School and Tennessee Wesleyan College, she married her middle school sweetheart, B.D. Hitch, and worked in multiple family businesses during her life. But Susan’s true vocation was being a loving mother to her three sons and beloved Grammy to four grandkids and multiple granddogs and horses. Susan loved playing tennis and golf, whistling, moving to some fun music, and finding a great deal…but was often overheard saying, “The only thing better than doing something you love is watching your kids and grandkids do something they love.” Susan and faced down multiple illnesses throughout her life, but maintained a remarkable kindness of heart, faith in the goodness of God, and sweet smile on her face until the moment she died. Susan was preceded in death by her parents, Tom and Barbara Taylor; sister Pat Dean and brother-in-law Harry Dean. She is survived by sons Pete Hitch, Scott (Julianne) Hitch and Brad (Emily) Hitch; brother Bill (Barbara) Taylor; grandchildren Laura, Todd, Hazel, and August Hitch; and her nephews and niece. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, May 6 a 3:00 pm at McCord Farms, 4230 Montvale Road, Maryville, TN 37803-2758. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Susan G.
