Sterling Alden North

Sterling Alden North, age 64, of Maryville, Tennessee, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, June 14, 2022, surrounded by his family. 

 

Sterling was born on June 5, 1958, to John Alden North Jr. and Jean Elizabeth Pressley, in Hartford, Connecticut. He was an honored descendant of John Alden and Priscilla Mullins of Massachusetts’s Plymouth Colony of Pilgrims.

 

Sterling was a proud alumnus of Connecticut College and the University of California, Berkeley. 

 

Sterling was a beloved father, husband, and grandfather. He recently retired after over 30 years as a Director of Continuing Medical Education at many prestigious institutions, including the University of Texas, Baylor College of Medicine, University of Maryland, and Geisinger Healthcare System. 

 

He was a dedicated Christian and found joy in helping others. In his free time, he was an avid New England sports fan and enjoyed writing, poetry, music, and playing golf. His pride and joy were his beloved wife and daughters. 

 

He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Regina North, his daughters Victoria (Taylor) Knight and Priscilla (Daniel) Bolton, and grandchildren Atticus Sterling Knight and Esme Alden Knight, his father John Alden North Jr., his brother John Alden North III, and sister Susan Alden Flynn. 

 

A celebration of life was held on June 18 at Foothills Church, in Maryville.
