Roger Lee Scott

Roger Lee Scott, age 76, passed away unexpectedly September 23, 2022.  He is survived by his beloved family, wife Amelia Geis-Scott and step-sons, Liam and Jack Walker. Other survivors include his brother, Jerry Scott. Roger was an educator, teaching in White County and Van Buren County before a long tenure as an English teacher and basketball coach at William Blount High School. He loved the outdoors, playing tennis, and writing. He was the author of six books, including a memoir about his childhood in Celina, Tennessee. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 22, at 2 p.m. at First United Methodist Church, Maryville, with the Rev. Dr. Emily Anderson and the Rev. Sarah Slack officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Welcome Tables at New Providence Presbyterian Church or First United Methodist Church.
