Richard Eugene Bailey passed away at his home in Maryville, TN, on May 3, 2022. Born October 23, 1938, in Erwin, TN, Richard is preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy “Dotti” Bailey, parents Elbert “Lee” Bailey and Mary Agnes Bailey, and sisters Sherry Tipton, Alma Fender, and Ann Jackson. Richard is survived by daughters Cindy Bailey, Weaverville, NC, and Tracy Saylor (Joel), Gray, TN; son Tim Shelton (Amy), Maryville, TN; sister Freda Ambrose, Erwin, TN; stepsons Jim Walling (Pat), Weaverville, NC and Billy Hyatt, Weaverville, NC. Also survived by grandchildren Lisa Payne (Kevin), Marshall, NC; Ashley Smith (Josh), Johnson City, TN; John Saylor, Rossville, GA; Tabatha Roberts, Weaverville, NC; Felicia Lincoln (Marcus) Greenville, TN; Tasha Walling, Mars Hill, NC; Josh Walling, Weaverville, NC; and Derrick Hyatt, Weaverville, NC; as well as ten great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Richard resided in Weaverville, NC area for almost 50 years and was employed with Ethan Allen Furniture Company, Woodfin, NC. He enjoyed working in the garden and loved watching westerns. His quick wit and strong opinions were always sure to bring a laugh or an interesting debate. You truly never knew what he would say next.
