Jo A. Teffeteller

Jo Adrian Stoutt Teffeteller (77) of Maryville, TN quietly passed away at home Sunday morning, September 3, 2023.  Jo had been battling pulmonary disease and just transitioned to UT Medical Center’s Hospice Services on Friday.

She was the daughter of the late Henry Newton Stoutt, Jr. and Joy Feezell Stoutt, both of Maryville; and is survived by younger sister Dana Stoutt Babb in Florida.

Jo was a graduate of Everett High School where she met the love her life, Larry D. Teffeteller (77) of Maryville, who adored and cared for her until her last breath on Sunday.  They enjoyed 58 years of marriage and fun that include gardening, camping, doting on their pets, traveling, and spectating and chaperoning their kids’ various sports and school activities, especially the William Blount High School Band.

The happy couple have two children.  Their daughter, Pamela Teffeteller Martin, married to John F. Martin, lives in Bethlehem, PA.  Pam and John have two daughters, Elsa Martin in Syracuse, NY and Zara Martin in State College, PA.

Their son, Jason K. Teffeteller is married to Michelle Pascal Teffeteller of Maryville.  Jason and Michelle reside in Valdese, NC. and have three children, Matteson Teffeteller-Kitching, married to Alex Kitching, in Raleigh, NC; Maxwell Teffeteller, engaged to Rose Gullett, in Asheville NC; and Benjamin Teffeteller in Raleigh, NC.

Jo gave Green Meadow Country Club in Alcoa 32 years of service as their office manager, attended Maple Grove Baptist Church, dabbled in scrapbooking and playing on her cell phone, made tasty dishes in the kitchen, was a voracious reader, and she delighted in cheering the Tennessee Volunteers sports programs on TV.  She’ll be remembered as a caring, sentimental, and devoted wife, mother, and friend.  Her lasting memory is forever marked on Larry’s heart; her legacy is her children and grandchildren; and her generous gift to this life is her body for science.  She chose to donate her remains for educational purposes, and was given to Restore Life USA, a nonprofit program for the study of tissue for medical research.  There will be no memorial services.

If you’d like to make a donation to your favorite charity in Jo’s name, the family would be greatly honored.
