Jeffrey Paul Grubb, 62, passed away peacefully at his home on January 12, 2026, surrounded by loved ones. In true Jeff fashion, he left this world while listening to his favorite radio show, Delilah. Those gathered with him later realized that he took his final breath at the very end of the last song of the night — a moment that brought smiles through tears and felt like a gentle goodbye on his own terms.
Jeff was known for his sweet smile and tender spirit. Though he lived with cerebral palsy and faced many obstacles throughout his life, Jeff never allowed his challenges to define him. He met adversity with quiet strength, perseverance, and grace, continually pushing forward despite pain and hardship. His resilience and determination made him an inspiration to many.
Jeff was a man of faith whose beliefs guided him throughout his life and gave him comfort, strength, and peace.
Jeff had a lifelong love of cars, both vintage and new. While he was never able to drive, he found joy in a large collection of model cars proudly displayed in his room. He could identify the make, model, and year of a car from across the room with remarkable accuracy. One of his greatest pleasures was simply going for a car ride — anywhere, anytime — with anyone willing to drive.
Jeff also had a fondness for spicy snacks and Mello Yello, a combination well known to all who loved him and one that never failed to bring a smile. It was a small but endearing part of who he was and a reminder of how joy lived in the simplest things for him.
Jeff is preceded in death by his father, Robert Grubb; his mother, Margaret “Polly” Grubb; and his sisters, Terrie Mahs and Pamela Bryson. He is survived by his niece, Ashley Mahs (Rob Wallace); nephew, Brad Mahs; great-nieces, Landry and Perry Mahs; his brothers-in-law, Ron Mahs and Alec Bryson; his girlfriend, Tammy McCammon; as well as many devoted caregivers who became more like family.
Jeff was supported for many years by Heartland Services, including the group home where he resided in recent years. The family is deeply grateful for the compassionate care, support, and kindness shown to Jeff throughout his life.
A casual celebration of Jeff’s life will be held on February 21, 2026, from 12:30–2:30 p.m. at Springbrook Recreation Center, 1537 Dalton St., Alcoa, TN 37701.
