Mr. Gary Michael Huffstetler

Gary Michael Huffstetler, 74, of Maryville, Tennessee, passed away on Wednesday, October 31, 2018 at his home surrounded by loved ones. Gary was born December 2, 1943 in Maryville, Tennessee to Jessie and Alonzo (Lon) Huffstetler. He is also lovingly known by family and friends as “Mike”, “Uncle Mike”, and “Huff”. Gary graduated from Lanier High School and went on to study at The University of Tennessee, Knoxville. He was in the Air National Guard for 6 years and worked as a mechanic on the flight line (134th in Maryville). He began his career with Bellsouth in Atlanta in 1966 and retired July of 2000 in Maryville. Gary was an avid golfer and after retiring, began working at Lambert Acres in 2001. He enjoyed working and playing golf there for over 13 years. Gary loved antiquing with Genia and their many travels with friends and family, especially to Hilton Head Island to see his kids. He also enjoyed his time with his Bellsouth and golfing buddies catching up and hitting the links. Gary was an amazing person; a loving and cherished husband, father, son, brother and friend. Gary is preceded in death by Jessie Huffstetler (Mother), Alonzo Huffstetler (Father), and Derrill Huffstetler (Brother). Gary is survived by his loving wife, Genia, of 49 years, Kelli and Martin Lesch (Daughter and Son-In-Law), Michael Huffstetler (Son), Peggy and Harold Walker (Sister and Brother-In-Law), Linda Alcorn (Sister), Myrtle Kincaid (Mother-In-Law) and Brother-In-Laws and Sister-In-Laws: Mary Huffstetler, J.E. and Regina Kincaid, Bobbie and Billy Simerly, Bill Kincaid, Randy and Jennie Kincaid, John and Janet Kincaid, and many loving nieces, nephews and extended family. A very special thank you to Nurse Peggy Melhorn and Evan Alderson of Amedisys for their special care. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Amedisys (Hospice) In Loving Memory of Gary M. A celebration of life will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, November 7 at Smithview Pavilion, 601 Smithview Drive, Maryville, TN 37803.
