Mr. Michael Ray Garner

December 27, 1958 — June 18, 2017

Michael Ray Garner, age 58, of Maryville, TN passed away on Sunday, June 18, 2017 at Blount Memorial Transitional Care. Michael attended Everett Highschool, graduating in 1977. He was a member of the United States Air Guard and retired from UT Medical Center after 25 years of service as a surgery technician in the heart lab. Michael was a very kind soul, with a servant’s heart. Mike attended South Knoxville Church of God and Parkwest Church of God for over 25 years. He served as boys youth camp counselor at Barbourville Pentacostal Children's Home for 9 years. He also worked several years feeding the homeless on the streets of Knoxville. He was preceded in death by grandparents Bruce and Helen Martin and father-in-law Austin Dailey. Michael is survived by his wife of 25 years, best friend for 33 years, Tonia Dailey Garner; son Michael Garner (Deborah); grand-daughter Brayleigh Ann King; step-grand-daughter Karlee King; step-grandson Wesley King; parents Jerry and LouAnn Garner; sister Debbie Denton (Fletcher); brothers Mark Garner (Sherry) and Preston Garner (Kellie); mother-in-law Nancy Dailey; sister-in-law Micki Pruitt (Larry); nieces Lindsay Merriman, Whitney Winston, Michaela Pruitt, Morgan, Lexi and Elizabeth Garner; nephew Jordan Garner; special aunts and uncle Wayne and Stacey Martin and Dickie Moore; special friends Ailene Mathes, Mel Dees, Neil Davis and Darrell Priddy; very special friend Bliss Gonzales; special friend and Pastor Tommy Bellamy as well as over 35 international children that became like true sons and daughters. Special recognition to Ken and Julie King. Another special thanks to those who helped during Mike’s journey and provided labors of love. Michael is loved by all of his many family and friends. There will be a casual memorial service at Everett Hills Baptist Church on Saturday June 24 at 10 am with friends and family visitation to follow, and a dove release in Michaels’ memory at noon. Pastor Tommy Bellamy and Jerry Garner will officiate. In lieu of flowers, if you feel led to help in any way, donations can be made towards Mike's medical bills (contact Tonia).
