Jerome "Jerry" Clifford McBee

December 15, 1955 — December 9, 2020

Jerome “Jerry” Clifford McBee, also known as “Jesse” to his many friends, died unexpectedly at his Alcoa home Wednesday, December 9, 2020, just six days short of his 65th birthday. Jerry was a 1973 graduate of Alcoa High School and an Alcoa Tornado for life. He served his community throughout his 43-year career as a master plumber and through his business of Jerry McBee Plumbing, retiring in 2017. He was a member of First United Methodist Church Alcoa where he formerly taught the 5th/6th Grade Sunday School Class for 12 years, led VBS Games for many more, and assisted in Youth whenever needed. He volunteered several seasons as assistant coach to his step-daughter’s softball team. He enjoyed fishing, hiking, dove hunting, and NASCAR. He was also a talented chef who could reconstruct an elaborate dish simply by taste. He built a smoker that served many community events and is now in use at a local restaurant. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents James Lawrence McBee and Neoline Elizabeth Patty McBee and brother James "Jamie" Marley McBee. He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Deborah “Debbie” Browning McBee; stepchildren, Amanda Haynes and Adam (Jessica) Haynes; precious granddaughters Ella Rose and Hazel Mae Haynes; sisters Pat (Jim) Scruggs and Sandra (Scott) Bell; sister-in-law Alaine McBee; parents-in-law Walter Carson Browning and Faye Elizabeth Sellers Browning; brother-in-law Dan (Tammie) Browning. Nieces and nephews: Elizabeth (Jonathan) Coffield, Jennifer (Mike Kelly) McMurray, Jonathan (Amber) Bell, Katie (Ryan) McDaniel, Becky (Sean) Freeman, and Olivia Browning. Great nieces and great nephews: Mattie, Reed, Dane, Lucy, Marley, Evans, Ellowyn, and Sam. As an avid outdoorsman, Jerry’s wish was to be cremated and returned to the earth to nourish new growth. A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date when it is safe for family and friends to gather again. If you wish to honor Jerry’s life with a memorial donation, please consider Mr. P’s Foundation, PO Box 11746, Knoxville, TN 37939 or The American Heart Association.
