Eldon Anderson Moore, of Maryville, passed away Thursday, November 29, 2018. Eldon attended Maryville High school before going on to Maryville College, Emory and Henry College, and earning a Masters of Divinity at Emory University-Candler School of Theology. He was a member of the US Navy and a United Methodist minister from 1957-1998, serving multiple churches in the Holston Conference. He loved nature and was an accomplished watercolor artist. Eldon is preceded in death by his parents Farris and Mae Moore (Maryville), brothers Maurice and Norman Moore (both of Maryville), and the mother of his four children Libba Moore Gray. He is survived by his children Michael Moore (Joy) of Nashville, Amy Morton Vaughn (Jack) of Maryville, David Moore of Knoxville and Rachel Moore (David Houston Adams) of Maryville; grandchildren Kylie Berry(Evan), Laura Morton, Aubrey Moore, Myionna Albright, Pierce Vaughn and Anders Vaughn; great grandson Benjamin Berry and Special Friend Margie Carico. Eldon’s family would like to thank UT Hospice and Brookdale Senior Living (Sandy Springs) staff and residents. Memorial contributions may be made to First United Methodist Church of Maryville or Fairview United Methodist Church of Maryville. A Memorial Service in Eldon’s honor will take place on Sunday, December 9th, 2018 at 4pm at First United Methodist Church in Maryville, with Reverend Catherine Nance, Reverend J.N. Howard and Reverend Daniel Moore officiating. A Visitation will be held prior to the service from 2-4pm, and a reception will be held immediately following the service.
