Elbert Franklin "Frank" Evans

Elbert Franklin “Frank” Evans passed away on May 18, 2021. Frank was born in Logan, WV on October 27, 1947. He graduated from Lyman Highschool in Longwood, FL and earned two Masters Degrees: one in Management in 1987 and one in Computer Resources in 1988. Frank served more than 26 years in the United States Army, earning full retirement on January 1993 with the rank of Lt. Colonel. He was awarded the Combat Infantryman Badge, a Bronze Star with “V” device, a Bronze Star for Meritorious Service in a combat zone, and Air Medal, five Meritorious Service Medals, a Korean Military Achievement Medal and various other Service Medals. Frank was an author, publishing the book, “Stand To…A Journey to Manhood”, about his life and military service. This book won the Military Writers Society of America Gold Medal Award and other awards. Frank volunteered for the Blount County Senior Outreach Program. Frank is preceded in death by his son Jason Evans, first wife Edith Evans, brother Rusty Evans and sister Barbara Evans. He is survived by his wife Pamela Evans, son Eric Evans, daughter Amanda Evans, stepdaughter Holly Butts, and granddaughters Faith Adams and Stephanie Butts. Frank was the most loving husband, father and grandfather. He always put others first and he never met a stranger. A Memorial Service will be held in Bushnell, FL, and will be announced at a later date.
